Errores), lo cual puede hacer dudar si Hom no será, al fin y al cabo, un error de copia por Holm nunca detectado (la abreviatura Holm, por otra parte, coincide con el sustantivo holm "encina", significado que no está en el original Holman, lit. "hombre de agujero"). Sin embargo, la forma publicada recuerda curiosamente a la expresión long home (en IA lang ham o hom) "larga morada" = "tumba", que Tolkien estudió en su artículo "Some Contributions to Middle-English Lexicography" (RES 1.2, abril de 1925, págs. 210-5) y que usó varias veces en su obra. De todos modos, se trataría de una referencia bastante macabra difícil de justificar.
